As some of you may know, Society Matters has a road show — a one-hour presentation I began sharing with private groups in the DC area earlier this year. These multi-media shows & follow-up discussions have been very well attended, and the feedback I’ve received has been extremely helpful in thinking about the challenges confronting journalism in general, and National Geographic in particular. (They’ve also inspired some new twists that will be coming soon to Society Matters.)
On Tuesday, September 20, 2011 (next week) @ 11:00 am, I’ll be presenting this show — titled Democracy, Interrupted: National Geographic & the Hazards of Media Globalization — at the George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs. Although I was invited to deliver this talk primarily to GW faculty, staff, and students, the University has set aside a few extra seats for folks from beyond the GW campus.
So if you’re in the neighborhood and would like to join us for the presentation & a lively discussion, please let me know via email: alan [at] societymatters [dot] org. Or use the Contact form (see tab, above). The University is handling event publicity and registration, so I’ll need to let them know if you’d like to join us.
Hope to see you there.
