“Bird Like Me”

This video is brilliant. Genius, really. Funny. Pointed. Relevant. Urgent. Did I mention funny? It’s must-see TV.

It also sums up in 5 minutes 49 seconds so much of what we’ve been writing about here at Society Matters for the past 18 months. Wyatt Cenac of The Daily Show nails what ails the National Geographic Society, whose (relatively new) mission statement is: To inspire people to care about the planet.

You’ll laugh! You’ll cry! And you might even wonder: What is happening to our society — and our Society?

Dear John,
What do you think?
Is it time yet to rewrite our Society’s mission statement?
