A few months after September 11th, Anwar al-Awlaki — who “has been linked to the 9/11 attackers, accused Ft. Hood shooter Nidal Hasan, and accused Christmas Day bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab” — visited National Geographic headquarters in Washington, DC, to participate in a panel discussion about Islam.
(For details about that visit, and about al-Awlaki’s Islamic perspectives at the time, contact National Geographic Editor Don Belt, who extended the invitation to al-Awlaki.)
Yesterday, Reuters reported that the Obama administration has authorized operations to capture or kill al-Awlaki.
